PARIS Enterprise is designed for the professional IT user. A PARIS system can be configured for a small business with a local cut-sheet printing requirement, through to a large organisation needing to manage production class printers.  Delivery can be in electronic form via e-mail and documents indexed and loaded into a corporate document management system or archive. The whole creation and delivery process can be automated and influenced by the content of the input data, ensuring each document is personalised for the recipient.

Paper or electronic documents are critical to the success of modern businesses. As communication tools they can be categorised into two broad groups.

  • Marketing documents used to communicate information about the company, its products, and sales related promotions. For example: letters, newsletters, brochures, coupons, sales flyers, special offers, invitations, name cards, direct marketing material.
  • Transactional documents are used to support major business processes such as billing, debt collection or purchasing and are often generated by business critical applications. Typically these documents are used for business to customer, or business to supplier, communication and generated at regular intervals and in large volumes. For example invoices, reminders, shipping documents, labels and statements.

One thing all these types of document have in common is they comprise information extracted from an IT system, as well as fixed information. This is often referred to as Mail Merge or Variable Data Publishing (VDP).

PARIS Enterprise is a system that satisfies all Variable Data Publishing needs – whatever the document might be. PARIS Enterprise is significantly different to the standard Mail Merge provided as part of MS Word or the capability embedded within line of business applications. PARIS Enterprise is a WYSIWYG (What You See Is What You Get) design system, so any variable information can be seen, exactly where it is going to be printed, while a document is being designed. Furthermore, the designer can scroll through the database input file and preview every individual page that will be printed later on.

PARIS Enterprise may be used for simple documents, but it is also a system that has a rich set of advanced features for the more demanding user. Intelligent composition provides the ability to set business rules on how a document should be created by adding, removing, or enhancing the content, ensuring it is personalised for the recipient. This results in lower costs and improved business outcome. Marketing techniques such as merging promotional information with transactional documents, for example adding coupons to statements, are easily and quickly implemented using PARIS Enterprise.

PARIS Enterprise is the ideal tool for processing large volumes of documents by in-house printers, departmental groups, or external print service providers.

PARIS Enterprise provides an extensive range of features.

Easy to use

PARIS Enterprise design software allows the user to manipulate incoming data in virtually any format and from virtually any source to create the document that the recipient needs. PARIS has an extensive range of features and functions, including its own decision making logic and a command language. These features make it a very powerful document composition tool.

Incorporate fixed and dynamic information or graphics throughout

All information, either fixed or dynamic, that is to be included in the final design is visible on the screen, exactly where it is going to be printed. Multiple page document previews can be scrolled through on screen. Dynamic information can be inserted from any supported file type. The suite includes all the elements to create professional looking documents containing images, graphics, and Optical Mark Recognition (OMR) markings to help in the print finishing process.

Full set of barcodes included

PARIS Enterprise comes complete with a full set of barcodes and no technical knowledge of barcodes is required to use this feature. Any database field can have a barcode applied and printed in any size and at any position on the page. Such barcodes can be used for recognising documents on their return to the company to help data capture or used to track and facilitate cash payments at local pay zones or pay points.

Uses CSV and text files for data input

Dynamic information can be inserted from any standard CSV type file such as Microsoft Excel or Microsoft Access. Any text file that can be displayed in Notepad or Wordpad can be used as an input file. Multiple data streams can be merged prior to processing using the optional PARIS Consolidator or alternative input formats can be used, for example XML with the optional PARIS pre-process module.

Familiar printing

PARIS Enterprise uses the basic Windows printing system, so can print to any Windows printer that is available on the network. Unlike other systems, PARIS Enterprise creates its own print files which are customised according to the capability of the printer that is being used. In this way, high volume printers from manufacturers such as Xerox, OcĂ©, HP, Ricoh, Kyocera, Canon, and others can be run at their rated speed. If the requirement is to print using office printers, then the same techniques become even more valuable.

In summary PARIS Enterprise:

  • Provides a Windows based Design tool to cater for all design needs to incorporate fixed and dynamic data.
  • Uses colour, graphics, barcodes, static and variable information, and auto-shapes.
  • Has a Windows based composition engine to automatically build personalised documents.
  • Outputs to any network print device, using optimised files to reduce network traffic and increase speed.
  • Has work-flow tools to automate the execution and delivery of jobs.
  • Uses standard CSV, Text Files, and pre-process modules to capture data from virtually any system.
  • Has email, fax and archive support.
  • Supports printing from legacy devices and languages, for example Xerox LCDS.
  • Supports current device languages, for example Xerox VIPP.
  • Processes high volume printing. Speeds of 30,000 to 100,000 A4 sides per minute are achievable.
  • Gives control over print device functions such as stapling.

Modules available for PARIS Enterprise:

Barcode kit

Barcodes are used across all business sectors. Retail, manufacturing, logistics and distribution, local authorities, and financial services organisations take advantage of barcodes to streamline their business processes. Barcodes are used to help capture data from documents on their return to an organisation, facilitate the cash payment of bills, and support the tracking of packages through barcodes on labels. PARIS Enterprise Barcode kit enables PARIS to include virtually any barcode format as part of a document.

PARIS Enterprise Archive

The PARIS Enterprise Archive is an optional module which allows for the creation of PDF or TIFF documents from the PARIS Enterprise Software Suite to be indexed according to pre defined business rules and loaded into the customer’s chosen data management system (DMS), archive or repository.

PARIS Enterprise email

The PARIS Enterprise email & Fax is an optional module which enables documents created in PARIS Enterprise software to be delivered electronically by email.

Consolidator

PARIS Consolidator provides the capability to group together several types of document to enable them to be delivered as a single pack. An example of this would be merging Council Tax bills and an associated Benefits statement for single delivery.

Converter

PARIS Converter is a stand-alone module available to convert XEROX LCDS resources once only into PARIS Enterprise resources. This enables DJDE print jobs to run unchanged on the host system and print to PCL and Postscript networked printers. The converted forms are also available to be modified, taking advantage of all the contemporary features within PARIS Enterprise.

Define

PARIS Define is designed for professional document designers who are working with large CSV input files, in excess of 100 cells. To help make the data more manageable in the design process, PARIS Define enables the original input file to be re-profiled to contain only the required data and desired format.
